P&G ANJANI Training Program: Bridging Gender Equality and Inclusivity Forward

Gone are the days when women were confined to limited roles in the workplace. Today, women are taking charge, leading teams, and making significant contributions across various industries.

The topic of equality, collaboration, and inclusiveness was also one of President Joko Widodo's concerns at the G7 Summit in Japan, last Saturday (20/05). This is in line with the major mission that P&G Indonesia brought to their third women-empowerment program, partnering with  WeConnect International that was held on May 8-11, 2023 in the Senayan Central area.

The program, also known as ANJANI (Gerakan Wanita Indonesia Maju), is a concrete example of Procter & Gamble International and WEConnect International team’s genuine dedication to fostering gender equality, diversity, and inclusivity in global business.

More than 500 women-owned businesses in 16 countries, including Indonesia, Singapore, Japan, India, the United Arab Emirates, and many others, have benefited from this program.

ANJANI Training Program

Askpert's Co-founder, Irene Giarto, was one of the invitees with an opportunity to take part in the ANJANI training program two weeks ago.

Together with several other women entrepreneurs at the event, Irene received training on various topics, including business growth strategies, brand building, leadership skills, human resources management, and procurement handling with internal and external P&G experts.

All these topics are essential for any women business leaders out there. After all, the 2021 Ministry of Finance has stated that the contribution of MSMEs to the national economy reached 61%, of which 99% of the 64.2 million MSMEs were at the micro level and as much as 57% were managed by women.

Unfortunately, the lack of training facilities and access to long-term cooperation are some obstacles that women-owned businesses often experience. Therefore, Irene shared that joining the ANJANI program proved to be beneficial for her in particular.

"All the materials are crafted to facilitate women to grow their business even further. [The materials] were also delivered by seasoned women in senior leadership roles from various industries," added Irene.

"As a new business, human resource management has always been a challenge. Fortunately, this training helps me to understand my employees better and create a culture that could reflect the value of our company even further."

During the training, Irene was able to connect with a lot of exceptional people, including the P&G and the WEConnect team, as well as more than 20 women leaders from various sectors, ranging from logistics to even those handling business in crafts goods.

This experience itself is proof that women leaders can achieve success no matter what sector they are in.

"The only thing that is stopping us [from success] is ourselves," shared Ms. Irene as a message to other soon-to-be women leaders in Indonesia.

"Be brave and bold. Let's break the glass ceiling together!"
